PRESCRIPTION REQUESTS: Please note that it takes 2 working days to order repeat medication due to the number of requests we receive. We cannot take orders over the telephone for safety. The easiest way for you to order your medication is online or by asking your pharmacist to do it for you.
We are open Monday to Friday from 8am - 6.30pm (except on Bank Holidays) for you to contact us by telephone. Our reception is open from 8.15am to 6pm.
We close every Friday between 1.15 and 2.30pm for clinical meetings, but you can still contact us by phone.
All our clinicians work varying hours during our opening periods. Not all clinicians are in attendance for consultations at any one time.
We also offer extended hours as follows:
Early slots (6.30am - 8.00am) on a Monday morning and some Saturday mornings 8.00am - 12.00noon.
These are all pre-booked appointments. If you find it difficult to attend surgery during normal working hours then please ask reception for advice.
Monday to Friday 8.15am - 6.30pm
Surgery hours may vary slightly to those shown above.
These sessions are shared between the partners.
Not all the doctors are in attendance for consultations at any one time.
They may be called out on home visits or managing clinics (on surgery premises), or performing other duties for the benefit of the practice and the community, eg GP and staff training and DSS matters etc.
The doctors provide cover every day during normal working hours. A doctor is always available in an emergency for advice or a visit if they consider it necessary. An out-of-hours service during the evenings and weekends is available from Newark Hospital up until midnight and from Mansfield after midnight.
If you require urgent advice out of surgery hours, you will be directed to the correct number to call by dialling the surgery number (01636 704378). The recorded message will repeat the number but you will need to ensure that you have a pen and paper to hand. Please only call the doctor if your problem is a genuine emergency and cannot wait until the surgery is open. Alternatively, you can ring the Out of Hours service direct on 111 (this is a free call).
Should you have any problem getting through to the doctor please telephone Newark Hospital on 01636 681681 and tell them you are trying to contact the duty doctor for the Fountain Medical Centre.
It is the NHS telephone number introduced to help make it easier for you to access local health services. You can now call 111 when you need medical help fast, but it's not a 999 emergency. You will be assessed, given advice and directed straightaway to the local service that can help you best. That could be A&E, an Urgent Care Centre or Minor Injuries Unit, an out of hours GP, community nurse, emergency dentist or a late opening pharmacist. You can ring the 111 number 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Alls from landlines and mobile phones are free.
NHS 111 is a fast and easy way to get the right help - wherever you are, and whatever the time. It can also help us to free up 999 and local A&E departments so that they can focus on emergency cases.
FOR IMMEDIATE, LIFE-THREATENING EMERGENCIES, CONTINUE TO CALL 999
